Do You Want to Make Under Bed Storage to Save Home Space? Then Use Bed Frame Risers

Many people today are looking for different ways to save home space. One of the best places to store your stuff is under the bed. And bed frame risers can help you to store different things which can save a lot of space for you.

24 Inch Kitchen Stools

You may need extra space for seasonal clothing or during Christmas season. You can make your bed higher by using bed frame risers with multiple heights. Higher bed is also beneficial for a person with physical disabilities to stand up comfortably from a seating position. Read further to discover how bed frame risers can benefit you to store multiple things under the bed and save you a lot of home space in the process.

24 Inch Kitchen Stools

You can purchase different shapes and heights of bed frame risers which are available at specialty stores. They basically come in two types of shapes. The first is round shape and the second one is square shape. There are different heights available for these bed frame risers. You can get 3 inches, 5 inches or 8 inches of risers which can prove quite useful for increasing the height of your bed.

You can simply place them under every leg of your bed. If you have a king size or queen size bed then you may need 5 risers. Two people will be required to place these risers under the bed.

One person will lift the bed and other one will place the risers under each leg of the bed. 3 inch risers are ideal for most families where they can comfortably cover under the bed space with bed skirt. Handicap people will personally find these risers pretty helpful while standing up from the bed.

The biggest advantage of these risers is the availability of under the bed storage. We can increase the height of our bed up to 8 inches which can come handy for storing multiple things. This will allow us to store things like sweaters, shoes, blankets, small kitchen items and office papers too.

Children can also store their own stuff like toys, clothing and school items. We can also make multiple store boxes under the bed. They can be labeled by different family members to manage their own items.

The bed frame risers can be a real boon for people who are living in small rented houses. The space management is a big requirement for these people. This need can be easily fulfilled with the help of bed frame risers. You can even store kitchen items if you do not have enough space in your kitchen. Paper products are ideal for under the bed storage. In this case, 5 inch risers are perfect for you.

Warning: Do not make your bed too high. This can cause a danger of losing the balance of your bed and a person may fall down from the bed. You need to avoid this at any cost. 3 inches risers are perfect for you if you don't need to store too many things under the bed. Thus bed frame risers are great to save your home space and always buy them as per your real requirement.

Choosing the Right Towel Bars

Just like Rodney Dangerfield, towel bars don't get any respect. They are often an afterthought in American homes. But if you think about it, they are one of the most important additions you can make in a bathroom, kitchen or laundry room, as they allow towels to be readily available and to quickly air dry.

24 Inch Kitchen Stools

Choosing the right bars for your home isn't rocket science. But there are some tricks of the trade that will help you in choosing the right towel bars for your home - tips that will make them more convenient and more useful.

24 Inch Kitchen Stools

When choosing the right bars, know that they come in different sizes. The most common stock sizes are 7-inch, 12-inch, 18-inch and 24-inch. If you need a size in between, many styles allow you to easily modify the length by simply sawing off the required inches from the next largest size. So, if you need a 20-inch bar you'd buy the 24-inch long on and saw off four inches.

When choosing the right towel bars for your bathroom, the first consideration is the location for each bar. You want the towels to be convenient for you and guests, so think about the room and where someone is likely to want a towel. Obviously, the sink and shower/tub are two natural places where towels will come in handy.

For the shower/tub, you want at least two towel bars. Thankfully, there are many models that have two integrated bars, with the lower one sticking our farther than the top one so the towels will hang freely. If you're choosing the right towel bars for the shower/tub, make sure you have sufficient wall space to mount the bar. And if you have extra plush towels, make sure the space between the two bars is wide enough to easily and quickly hang the towels.

Choosing the right bars for the sink area is a little more complex. That's because you'll probably want to have a couple of hand towels and at least one, if not two, washcloths. You could conceivably go with two different towel bars - one hand towel sized and the other washcloth sized. Or you can layer them on a single bar, which is a good idea if you have limited wall space near the sink.

If you have twin vanities, you may need two racks, one on each end. If your space is really limited you may have to go with a smaller towel bar and do some creative folding of your towels.

When choosing the right towel bars for your bathroom, always try for the largest bar possible as fresh, dry towels are always appreciated by family members and guests. No one likes to latch onto a towel that is still damp from two days ago, especially when just stepping out of the shower.

Choosing the right towel bars for your kitchen is a bit more challenging, largely because space is always at a premium in kitchens. Because the walls are filled with mounted cabinets, it can be a real challenge to find towel bars that fit well. If you're choosing the right towel bars for your kitchen, you may have to be a bit creative, such as getting a smaller bar and mounting it horizontally on the side of a cabinet near the sink. You could also go with a tiered bar, allowing the towels to cascade down a cabinet facing.

Finally, you want to make sure that any towel bars you choose fit the style of the room. It's best to match the hardware in the room, such as the door pulls, handles and knobs of cabinets. You can also just go with wood, matching the color of the wood or stain to the ones in the room.

An Easy Guide on How to Make Dining Room Chair Cushions

Dining room cushions are very easy to make & part of drawing & dining room furnishings. You just need a perfect fabric, sewing needle, machine, thread and scissor or fabric cutter. On the simple colored cushion you can use bright colored, embroidered, knitted or cushion covers that will give life to your cushion as well as any room where they are placed. So if you are interested in how to make dining room cushion then here is the guide on how to make cushion covers with handy fabric buying & sewing tips.

24 Inch Kitchen Stools

Things Required to Make Dining Room Cushion
Fabric (around 3 yards. But the number of your cushions will decide the exact requirement), 15 inch chair pad foam, fabric marker, pin, scissor or fabric cutter, needle, thread, measuring tape and sewing machine.

24 Inch Kitchen Stools

Selecting the Most Appropriate Cushion Fabric
In the market you will find all sorts of fabrics that include cotton, linen, satin, silk & polyester. But the best one is cotton as it has long life and easy to maintain & sew. Now depending upon the measurement of your dining room chair & number, buy the fabric. Along with this also buy the sewing needles & matching thread if you do not have these at your home.

Know How Much Fabric is Required?
Generally the seat of dining room chair comes in standard size of 42 cm square but the size can also be as per the requirement. So to get an exact measurement, it is better to take the dimensions of your dining room chair seat. Measure the length & breadth of it to make the dining room cushion.

Now while buying the fabric add 3 cm in length as well as breadth. We need this extra fabric for seam. Do not forget to buy two pieces of the selected fabric to make one cushion. Say for an example, if you need five dining cushions then buy the fabric for ten such pieces.

How to Cut Fabric for Dining Cushions?
Keep the fabric on the floor with wrong side facing towards you. With the help of fabric marker draw the required dimensions of the dining cushions. Cut two pieces for each cushion with the scissor or fabric cutter.

Time to Sew Your Cushion
Place the right side on right side and pin these. Sew the seams from sides & bottom by leaving half inch of the fabric from the edge. Make the every dining room cushions having three sides closed & one open. Turn the right side out and fill the foam or other filler up to the thickness you required in the cushion. Now you can take the needle with a thread to sew the open side. Or if you are an expert then you can do it with machine also.

With this your dining chair cushions are ready and now you can use cushion covers to decorate it.

Bar Stools - 7 Things To Consider When Shopping For The Perfect Stool

Knowing what height, what fabric, finish, material and how many bar stools can fit your particular installation before hitting the stores can greatly enhance your bar stool shopping experience. Many people expect to find just a few styles of bar stools and are overwhelmed at the thousands of options available. This article should help you in selecting the perfect stool for your home or business.

24 Inch Kitchen Stools

1. Height. Know What Height You Need.

24 Inch Kitchen Stools

Most people require either a 26" or a 30" bar stool. If the counter you wish to furnish is 36" high, you will need a 24 or 26 inch stool. Most standard kitchen counters are 35-37 inches high. If you have a standard slide-in cook top, standard dishwasher or other standard size appliances that are level with your counter tops, chances are you have a standard height counter top.

30" bar stools are commonly used for a raised eating surface in the 40 to 42 inch height range. Many homes and apartments today are built with a standard 36" high counter, then have a back splash and raised eating area. In most circumstances, if the eating area is HIGHER than your standard kitchen counter, you will need a 30" stool.

34" and larger bar stools are used for counters that exceed 42" in height. Please double check your measurements before ordering a 34" seat height. These are common enough for manufacturers to produce them, but most customers will need a bar stool in the 24" to 30" range.

2. Arms or Armless, Back or Backless?

Stools that will be used frequently or for long periods of time (dining, game rooms, commercial bars, etc.) should typically include arms AND backs to increase comfort and decrease stress on your back and shoulders.

If your horizontal (floor space) is limited, you may choose armless. Arms generally add 3 to 6 inches to the overall width of a single bar stool and can add up to 18" in width on just 3 bar stools. (See "How Many Do I Need?)

Backless stools are great when you need occasional extra seating or in situations where you don't want to obstruct a view with tall backs. Example: You may have an open floor plan and do not want to obstruct your view from one room to another. Also consider any outside views. If your game room or kitchen faces a lake or river, for example, you may not want backs extending above your counter that may obstruct your view.

3. How Many Do I Need?

Most newer homes and apartments with a raised counter are built to accommodate 3 bar stools. As a general rule of thumb, allow 24" from the center of one seat to the center of the next seat. A 6 foot long counter can generally accommodate 3 stools. An 8 foot counter, 4 bar stools. This obviously depends on the measurements of the particular stool in which you are interested. You can always buy an extra and use it for additional guests.

4. Metal or Wood?

This is a good question. If you ask 10 retailers, you'll get 10 responses. In my opinion, wood bar stools are prone to problems not encountered with welded metal bar stools. Due to the soft nature of wood (when compared to steel), screws and joints tend to come loose over time- especially wood with arms. The constant outward stress on the arms can loosen the attachment points resulting in a loose feel. Legs and stretchers (horizontal support bars) can also become loose over time resulting in an unstable and potentially dangerous bar stool. Still, there are decorating situations in which only wood will work.

Metal bar stools which are welded at all joints are far less prone to these problems. In addition, many companies have dozens of finishes, fabrics, and options available for a given style. For example, you may like a stool that is shown on our retail floor as a stationary (non swivel) stool with arms. In many cases you can custom order the same style as a swivel armless, swivel with arms, stationary without arms, or even a backless.

5. Price...What Should I Expect To Pay?

You can buy a bar stool for as little as . Typically bar stools less than 0 are "RTA" or "Ready to Assemble". This means that the bar stool must be bolted together by the customer. Using as many as FIFTY (yes, I once sold a stool that required 50 bolts) bolts, legs must be attached, seats must be attached, arms, back, seat frame, etc. Every bolt used to assemble a bar stool is a potential problem. Everyday use will loosen bolts over time resulting in a potentially dangerous situation if you do not periodically check the tightness of all the bolts. Even worse, many RTA stools use thin-walled metal with no additional support for the bolt's threads to grasp. I have seen hundreds of these lower quality stools that will easily strip threads simply by being assembled. Additionally, lower priced stools are typically sold one way: one color, one fabric, no options.

Even if you plan to purchase a bar stool that is pre-assembled, ask the salesperson if it is an RTA bar stool. Many retailers will pre-assemble the bar stool and sell it at a perceived "UNBELIEVABLE PRICE". Look for bolts holding legs and other parts together. Avoid these bar stools if they are going to be used on a continuing basis.

"Nicer" metal bar stools typically have all-welded frames. The only bolts you may see hold the seat to the swivel mechanism and there may be a few screws holding the seat pad to the metal frame. This type of construction is far more sturdy than "RTA" stools.

As for a dollar amount, the average higher-quality bar stool should be in the 9 to 9 range regardless of where you shop. Stools with special features such as tilt-swivel mechanisms, real leather seating, casters or custom heights may cost as much as 0 to 0 each. Some designer hand carved wood stools with multi-step finishes can cost ,000 to ,000 each. If your budget allows you, try to upgrade from the RTA bar stools to welded construction. They will last longer, be safer for you and your family, AND should allow you the ability to customize the height, fabric, and finish you want.

Many major chain stores now offer bar stools. While most are very nice looking and affordable, many are RTA. The following link from the Consumer Product Safety Commission contains just one example of the consequences purchasing this type of stool may pose: http://www.cpsc.gov/CPSCPUB/PREREL/prhtml06/06247.html

6. Finish and Fabric- What You Need To Know.

Wood Bar Stools: Wood bar stools are typically offered in a few stains or painted colors. Look for chip-resistant finishes and/or stains which are sealed to protect the wood as well as the underlying finish. Look for metal protectors on the foot-rest as any painted or finished wood subject to the wear and tear of people's feet will wear through over time. Many manufacturers intentionally distress their finishes to provide a used or worn look. Some more expensive wood bar stools feature rich, multi-step finishes that can be custom matched to you particular needs.

Metal Bar Stools: Metal bar stools are often available in dozens of finishes. Look for a powder-coated and baked on finish. These finishes are by far more chip and scratch resistant than "spray painted" finishes. In addition to a more durable surface a powder coated finish is much less likely to be damaged by cleaning products than a painted finish.

Fabrics: Both wood and metal bar stools may have countless fabrics to choose from. Look for high quality fabrics that complement your home's decor, as well as a fabric that works well with the finish you have selected AND the style of the bar stool. An "Antique Tapestry" is a beautiful fabric, but NOT on a silver modernized frame! Synthetic suede fabrics are very durable and easy to clean. They simulate the look and feel of suede, but are far more easy to care for than cotton or other natural coverings. Some manufacturers offer the ability to use your own fabric. These are commonly referred to as "COM" or "Customer's Own Material." If you choose to use your own fabric, make sure it is an upholstery grade fabric and check with your salesperson to see how much material will be needed for each stool. Stools with backs generally require 2 yards per stool, whereas backless or metal back stools generally require 1 yard per stool. If your fabric has a repeating pattern that you want to match, it may be necessary to provide more fabric so the factory can match the placement of a design from one stool to the other.

Leather: Most "Leather" that you will find in your bar stool search is actually fabric-backed vinyl. Due to the extra time and cost required for real leather seating, the price of the bar stool will generally be to 0 MORE than a comparable vinyl but will last much longer and feel much better due to its ability to "Breathe". Vinyl is prone to tearing, cracking and warping more so than fabric or leather. Synthetic suede fabrics are a much better option if this is a concern. Sun, dry air, excessive heat and cold as well as exposure to certain chemicals or cleaners can also destroy vinyl.

If you decide to cover your bar stool with leather, keep in mind that leather is a natural product made from the skin of cattle. As such, there will be variations in color and texture just as there are variations in texture and color of your own skin. Generally, the more expensive the leather, the more of these imperfections you will see. The "Cheaper" leathers used in furniture are often "corrected" leather. Corrected leathers are treated, sanded and dyed to remove these imperfections. Many are even stamped with a simulated grain pattern. Corrected leathers will most often match very closely from one piece to the next and may actually look more artificial than many vinyls! Consider it a unique trait if you happen to get a barbed wire scratch mark or even a "brand" mark. Many people pay extra for these imperfections that prove the authenticity of their leather.

7. Where to Shop

You can purchase stools just about anywhere at any price. Many of the major "Big Box" stores offer different styles and heights at very competitive prices. They typically are ready to assemble and have few, if any options.

Many full service furniture stores will offer bar stools that match popular furniture groups however may not sell them apart from high-top dining groups. If they do not offer stools by themselves, you should consider looking for a specialty store.

Specialty stores carry higher end stools with virtually countless options in frame styles, fabrics, finishes, heights and other options. Specializing in customization, these are the types of stores you will want to find if you desire a designer look and higher quality than the mass produced items offered elsewhere. Because specialty stores specialize in custom stools, expect to pay more than mass produced furniture. Your bar stool will be made to order in the fabric, finish, height and other options you select. Typical turn around time is anywhere from 3 to 8 weeks and may be even longer during the winter holiday season. Let your retailer know if time is a factor in your decision so they may direct you to manufacturers with quicker lead times.

Internet stores sell everything from shoelaces to automobiles. Many offer name brand bar stools at incredible discounted prices, but offer very little in terms of personal service, servicing warranty issues, and assisting customers in selecting the proper fit and finish for their particular application. Remember that every monitor displays colors differently. Fabrics shown on screen may not match the actual fabric. Additionally, you cannot try them out by sitting on your computer screen! For these reasons, it often pays to spend a little more to deal with an actual brick and mortar store who will take care of any issues locally as well as provide value-added services such as in home design consultation, delivery and setup of your furniture.

Knowing what to expect before hitting the streets can simply your shopping experience. Remember to take your measurements, photographs of your room and fabrics or wood samples you are trying to match with you. Know what your budget is and above all try them out!

How to Decorate and Update Your Kitchen

What would be in YOUR dream home?
I was reading an article this week about what Generation Y, Generation X and Baby Boomers want in their dream home. For those born from 1978 to the present (Gen Y) a whirlpool bath and swimming pool topped the list. Gen X-ers (1965-1977) and Boomers (1946-1964) dream of things with a practical use. A state of the art kitchen and walk-in closets top both of their wish lists. A budget of ,000 to ,000 can turn an existing kitchen into a dream kitchen with the addition of high end counter tops, new cabinet fronts, state of the art appliances and great decor. But fear not. I have got some great ideas for you if major kitchen upgrades do not agree with your budget.

24 Inch Kitchen Stools

Perk Up Your Kitchen
Installing pull out shelves in your cabinets will allow you to quickly see everything inside. Sliders under the sink will give you easy access to the trash or recycling containers. A trip to the hardware store will give you many ideas on how to make your cabinet space organized and efficient. You will be amazed at how much you find yourself appreciating this on a daily basis.Take a look at your sink. Is it scratched, stained or just plain ugly? Update it with an extra deep sink that will make washing large dishes and pots easier. Add sparkle to the area with new faucets. Choose a style with a high gooseneck to make filling large pots easier. Once you buy the sink, a plumber will usually charge 0 - 0 to install it. Get a quote FIRST, though, before they come out.

24 Inch Kitchen Stools

Just Add Furniture
Play with the layout of the furniture in your kitchen to see if you have room for a small comfortable chair. It will become a favorite spot of family or friends as they keep you company while you cook. It is also a wonderful place for you to relax while they clean up after dinner. Tall chairs work here in many cases.

A Few More Tricks
Find a pretty piece of pottery or glassware to hold your spatulas, whisks etc. That eight inch bowl that you fell in love with would make a great utensil holder. Do not let your favorite pieces hide in the cabinet - find ways to use them on the countertop. If you have too many favorites and do not want clutter, rotate them every month. It is an easy change that will keep your decor fresh.A small lamp tucked into a corner on the countertop will softly light the kitchen at night. Shop for one that has an interesting shape or shade. Be wary, though, of having it too close to spattering grease. There's nothing that will ruin a beautiful home decor faster than a fire!

A favorite designer trick for adding color to the kitchen is to place tall thin floral arrangements on each side of the sink. Eighteen inch topiaries adorned with lemons or pears make perfect accent pieces. This is the kind of decorating touch that is easy and inexpensive, yet your friends will rave about your prowess.Thank you for letting me share some of my ideas with you today. Remember to send me your favorite finds that you have turned into something special for your home. I love your creativity and I want to share it with other readers.
